Thursday, 24 June 2010 08:34

Swedish national broadcaster SVT has penned a groundbreaking renewal of the if Stockholm Open tennis tournament. The new deal provides SVT with the national rights to the event for the upcoming 4 years (2010 – 2013). Approximately 10 matches will be live on nationwide terrestrial SVT1 or SVT2. Complementary coverage, including all other matches will be live on SVT24 or SVT Play.

-Stockholm Open, the Royal Tennis Hall and SVT share a proud history at the event, including many fantastic victories for Swedish Tennis. With Robin Söderling entering the top echelons of the World´s elite we are extra delighted to extend the contract and to continue to develop our coverage on SVT, said SVTs Head of Sport Mr. Per Yng.

-This partnership is a big step forward for the tournament and the new organization involved with the if Stockholm Open, according to Thomas Johansson Tournament Director for the if Stockholm Open.
The if Stockholm Open is played between 16-24 October in 2010 and it’s the first time that Thomas Johansson and his former colleague on the ATP-tour, Jonas Björkman, are responsible for the event.

-To have a solid TV-partner is critical for all organizers. It is vital for the tournament that we can offer coverage via Swedish Television throughout the entire event, concludes Thomas Johansson who is working in tandem with PR Event and IEC in Sports. The two companies are also responsible for the annual WTA and ATP tournaments in Båstad.
