IEC secures IAAF deal in France for Doha
Monday, 22 February 2010 20:03
IEC in Sports, the Lagardère Sports-owned Media Rights Agency, continues its significant progress with a groundbreaking new deal in France, with DTT broadcaster Direct 8.

Under the terms of the agreement, Direct 8 will show both weekend Final Sessions from Doha live, with an additional highlights show planned to round up the weekend’s coverage. Direct 8 will show the Doha Event exclusively in France. This new deal means additional excellent coverage and exposure for the first of the major IAAF Events in the new cycle distributed by IEC in Sports, following the Swedish company taking over the rights from EBU late last year.

Yannick Bolloré Direct 8 CEO commented: “Direct 8 is delighted to have acquired such a high profile Event, which represents the first time we will show Athletics on our channel. The World Indoor Championships promise to showcase some of the world’s very best athletes and we are thrilled to have engaged in this partnership, which was made possible with our excellent co-operation with Lagardère-Sports affiliate, IEC in Sports, for the Doha Event.”

Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports, welcomed the new deal in France, saying “our goal is always to offer a balanced commercial result for our client and this is yet another example of being given the creative freedom to do just that. We are delighted to have forged a new partnership with Direct 8 and look forward to seeing the results of this new agreement during the exciting IAAF Indoor World Championships from Doha”.
