Monday 5 December 2011 IEC in Sports has acquired all international media rights to the 2011/2012 BEKO Russian Professional Basketball League from Russian boradcaster NTV-Plus. The rights are exclusive outside of Russia and the CIS.
With the PBL basketball fans gets the massive advantage of seeing some top basketball players in action on Russian hard courts. Russia’s biggest star, Andrei Kirilenko, has reunited with his former team CSKA Moscow from where he was drafted to the NBA as the youngest player ever from Europe by Utah Jazz in 1999. NBA stars DeJuan Blair and Chris Quinn (San Antonio Spurs) together with Austin Daye from Detroit Pistons head up an international line-up which will ensure that the current season of the Russian Professional Basketball League will be one of the most memorable. Other top players: Nenad Krstic (SRB) Nathan Jawai (AUS) Loukas Mavrokefalidis (GRE) Zoran Planinic (CRO) Darjuš Lavrinovic (LTU) The league features the top ten teams in Russia, includes players from 19 nations and it is guaranteed that international interest will be high for 2011/2012 season.
