Monday 19 September 2011 The Chinese Badminton Association and IEC in Sports have extended cooperation to distribute the broadcast of the China Badminton Super League on a worldwide basis. Dates for the league are provisionally from late August until December 2012 over 8-10 weeks and will feature eight teams based in major Chinese cities, playing in a league format.
Top foreign stars Lee Chong Wei (MAS) Taufik Hideyat (INA) played in the 2011 edition along with Malaysian doubles stars Koo Kien Keat and Boon Heong Tan (MAS). China's national 'A' squad including the reigning 2011 World Champions Lin Dan and Wang Yihan also competed. 'The recent World Badminton Championships in London were a huge success for China with a clean sweep of titles. China has the infrastructure, fan base and strong media support to grow our national badminton league and appreciates IEC's global marketing expertise in the sport' said CBA's Secretary General Liu Fengyan. 'IEC has a strong ethos to grow the sport of badminton globally. "With Chinese Badminton Clubs keen to attract top international players to strengthen their teams, this can only increase media interest in seasons to come.' added Horne. About: China Badminton Super League China hosts an annual Club-based league featuring all national squad players and a international players, by invitation. Each team has 12-14 professional players. League format is Sudirman Cup style with each team playing double round robin/home and away and five matches including Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's and Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. 2010 Super League winners were Qingdao. Other Clubs also participated and will be back in 2011 include Hunan, Bayi, Jiangxu, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai and Zhejiang.
